Perficient currently has a career opportunity for a Front End Web Developer in our National IBM Commerce Practice. This position can be located in Allentown, PA, Toronto, ONT, or remote.

Job Overview:

As a Front End Web Developer you will participate in the software development lifecycle which includes estimating, technical design, implementation, documentation, testing, deployment and support of application developed for our clients. As a member working in a team environment you will take direction from Solution Architects and Leads on development activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in technical planning and requirements gathering phases including Design, code, test, troubleshoot, and document engineering software applications.
  • Ensuring that technical software development process is followed on the project, familiar with industry best practices for software development.
  • Understanding target audiences' needs, tasks, and goals and translating them into user friendly concepts and functional components.
  • Participate in front end web development of e-commerce sites for our clients.
  • Creating wireframes, user flows, sitemaps and other artifacts to describe the intended user experience.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and document browser/platform compatibility issues and standards.
  • Quickly grasp new technologies and how they apply to our business needs.
  • Continually demonstrate the ability to deliver timely results.
  • Demonstrate comfort with UI / UX specifications and design comps from source materials like PSDs, and create modern, standards compliant, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in HTML5, CSS, Compass/SASS, JavaScript, jQuery, DOJO, Java, JSP, XML, Ajax, JSON.
  • Experience in a responsive design approach using JSP.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in web development.
  • Proficient with prototyping tools such as Axure and Visio.
  • Ability to design across devices from desktop to mobile, and across systems from browser-based websites and apps to native apps for mobile.
  • Strong debugging, problem solving and investigative skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot HTML, CSS and JavaScript related issues.
  • Ability to assimilate disparate information (log files, error messages etc.) and pursue leads to find root cause problems.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce functionality, and experience with IBM Commerce solutions will be a plus.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology.
  • Strong communication skills. Able to communicate and present complex issues with assurance and confidence.
  • Demonstrates the use of consulting skills including questioning, listening, ideas development, permission and rapport, and influencing.
  • Able to discuss (within own area of expertise) requirements with a client, and to challenge and clarify when appropriate. From the requirements, able to develop a high level design or plan, and then estimate the amount of effort required to deliver. Able to advise the engagement owner about the risks associated with this work package.
  • Ability to work with a team to provide written responses to technical proposals and /or reports/documentation for delivery.
  • Extreme attention to detail, experienced creating pixel perfect web products.
  • Strong consulting and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with various organizations in pursuit of problem solutions.
  • Demonstrates the use of consulting skills including questioning, listening, ideas development, permission and rapport, and influencing.
  • Self-starter who can work independently.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Math, Engineering or comparable major.
